Dues: It’s not Rocket Science

Issue: December 2009 — By Devan Corona, District Treasurer

RocketScienceDesignNow that the dues deadline has passed, your club can be in one of two positions. If your club has submitted dues, I would like to congratulate you on all of your hard work. By paying on time, your club is an official club in good standing with Key Club International. You have all the privileges of being a member in this great organization.

If your club has not submitted dues, it is now officially in delinquent status and on the path to having its charter revoked if the dues are not paid immediately. By not being a dues paid club, members cannot attend District Convention, run for a District or International Board position, or vote for the Lieutenant Governor in your division. You club will lose its voice in chosing the direction of the New Jersey District Key Club.

Even though the dues deadline has passed, a strong effort should be made to collect dues. In fact, this is the most critical time for submission of dues. At this point in the year, the first step to turning in dues is finding the problem. The deadline has passed and there must be a reason for being late. Find this problem and fix it. Contact me; the District Treasurer for any assis- tance in fixing this problem. Once you have collected dues money submit the Key Club Online Roster by logging onto keyclub.org. Print the invoice and immediately mail in a check to Key Club International. A speedy turn around time is key at this point in the year to turn in dues. With District Convention and elections approaching fast, you do not want to be left out for something as simple as not handing in dues. Please e-mail me at treasurer@njkeyclub.org with any questions pertaining to matters of dues. Also remember to update your club rosters for new members and send in their dues.
