The Positions of Key Club
Key Club is a massive organization! Therefore, we have some very important leaders and members who help maintain and organize the institution so it can continue to be the successful service organization that you have all come to know.
International President
As chief executive, the president exercises general supervision over the work and activities of Key Club International. He or she presides over the international convention and all meetings of the Board of Trustees and the International Council. The president is the official representative of Key Club International with Kiwanis-family leadership and external agencies.
International Trustee
A trustee works with the rest of the Key Club International Board to define the administrative policies of Key Club International. He or she interprets the scope and meaning of the bylaws, carries out committee directives and maintains consistent communication with the leadership of the districts to which he or she is assigned.
District Governor
Each district governor is responsible for the overall operations of the district board. He or she trains other district officers, appoints committees and assigns directives, builds and maintains relationships with other Kiwanis-family leadership and communicates district needs and desires to the international board liaison.
District Secretary
The district secretary is an important role for the successful functioning of a district board. The person who fulfills this role should be organized, reliable, enjoy regular communications with fellow board members and understand the importance of meeting deadlines. The district secretary is the go-to person for records and reports and, therefore, should understand how Key Club functions at the club and district level.
District Treasurer
The office of district treasurer is responsible for monitoring district finances, creating and filing all appropriate reports and coordinating dues collection. He or she also contributes to the district newsletter and supports club treasurers.
District Editor
The district editor is responsible for coordinating, editing and distributing district publications. This includes ensuring adherence to Key Club graphic standards and notifying contributors of deadlines and requirements.
District Webmaster
The district webmaster is responsible for updating the district website with the latest divisional, district, and international updates. The person in this position is also responsible for assisting the board members with any technology issues or concerns.
Lieutenant Governor
Each lieutenant governor is responsible for supporting and growing the clubs within his or her division and serving as a liaison between the district and the club. Duties include publication of a newsletter, club officer training and support, holding divisional meetings and serving on one or more district committees.
Club President
The club president is responsible for setting and monitoring the goals of the club, running club meetings, appointing committee chairs and delegating tasks as necessary, recruiting, training and retaining members and maintaining regular communication with the lieutenant governor of his or her division.
Club Vice President
The role of the club vice president can be summarized in one word: service. The vice president serves the president, other club officers, committees and the general membership. He or she is also expected to learn the duties of the president in order to fill in or take over as necessary.
Club Secretary
While a club secretary’s duties may be tailored to fit his/her specific Key Club, general responsibilities can be found across the entire NJ District. The club secretary is the go-to person for records and reports and should understand how Key Club functions at the club level.
Club Treasurer
The club treasurer controls the club’s money, both its collection and disbursement. He or she collects member dues, prepares and monitors the budget and maintains accurate financial records.
Club Editor
The club editor is responsible for keeping the membership informed about important activities, opportunities and deadlines at the club, district and international level. The “bulletin” may be a printed piece or electronic update.
Club Webmaster
The club webmaster is reponsible for updating the club website with the latest events, contact information, pictures, and more! The person in this position is also responsible for assisting the club's members and executives with any technology issues or concerns.
General Member
Without general members, Key Club would not be what it is today! These individuals are the driving force behind the organization's service activities and strength in general.
